Hurricane Ike Blows Through Northern Ohio

September 14, 2008

The remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through northern Ohio on Sunday, September 14. Most of the rain from Ike missed northern Ohio, but plentiful sunshine and above normal temperatures helped to mix down the strong mid-level winds associated with Ike's decaying remnant circulation. The result were numerous power outages and significant damage, especially to trees and powerlines from winds which gusted to Hurricane force at times.

Ohio Power Outages:

1,591,000 lost power in Ohio. Here in northeastern Ohio, 310,000 lost power.
